We jumped off the back of the boat and descended onto the reef plateau under the boat. The plateau was quite deep, at around 30 metres and gently sloping downwards, but there was nothing much to see down there except for a couple of lion fish.
We swam back to the reef and followed the southern wall of the island to the west. There were loads of soft corals covering the walls, with thousands of orange fairy basslets everywhere. About 15 minutes into the dive, I saw a pair of thresher sharks, one at a shallower depth than the other. I could see how black its eye was – menacing.
I think that the same Napoleon wrasse was following us around again, and the fish life was amazing as usual with lots of coral grouper, colourful angel fish, parrot fish, butterfly fish and schooling banner fish.
