Dive 228: Black Coral Wall, Utila (Honduras)

Dive time: 00:49:00
Max depth: 18.3 metres
Temperature: 27 C
Visibility: 15 metres
Buddy: Ed

The skies were grey and air temperatures down a lot on yesterday. The water temp was warm though thankfully!

The plan was to dive to 18m, which I sunk to almost immediately being overweighted with 12 pounds in a 3mm suit. At about 16m, the DM in training tapped on my shoulder to tell me to ascend a little to the same depth as the DM, which annoyed me no end, and then some other diver in our group did the same to me again.

I ended up giving the DM in training a massive serve after the dive – he was spouting some crap about needing to keep the same profile as the DM and having a second dive, and I spat back that I was a certified diver, diving to my computer and paying for a fun dive!

Did see some beautiful reef fish though, cleaner shrimp, beautiful sea fans, vase sponges, parrotfish, butterflyfish. A nice reef though some of the coral looked damaged. Two of the muppet divers ran out of air.

I would love to know what you think...
